Cleary School for the Deaf, current high school senior Juan Jose Rodriguez, was recently honored as “Employee of the Month” at the Amityville Walgreens.
Four years ago, Rodriguez interned at Walgreens during a summer work program. At the end of his internship, Rodriguez was offered part-time employment, which he has continuously maintained. “Juan is a conscientious student and worker. It is no surprise to me that Walgreens would recognize his positive attitude and great work ethic,” said Josie Garcia, Rodriguez’s former Life Skills instructor.
Rodriguez also attends Eastern Suffolk BOCES' culinary food service and preparation program and interns at the Hilton Garden Inn in Ronkonkoma.
Valerie Frederick, the Cleary High School Program coordinator states, “Juan is a responsible and dependable individual who maintains both vocational and educational responsibilities".
Rodriguez, who is Deaf and uses American Sign Language to communicate, expects to graduate from the Cleary School for the Deaf Secondary Program at East Islip High School in June 2014.
